Players from the past and present, team staff, executives, and fans throughout the Maritime Hockey League are mourning this loss of Trenton’s Daniel Arsenault. The 18-year-old, who was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy at a young age, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 7th, his mother Lynn confirmed to The News in Pictou County.

From the Pictou County Weeks Crushers on Facebook:
“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we have learned of the sudden passing of Daniel Arsenault. Daniel was our number one fan who rarely missed a home game and would often be seen in Truro when we played to cheer us on. The loss of a young child and brother is devastating and our thoughts are with Kenny, Lynn, Rebecca and Tommy during this very difficult time. Rest easy Daniel.”

The Pictou County Weeks Crushers played Saturday night in Truro, where a pre-game announcement was made to mark Daniel’s passing and a moment of silence was held in his honour. The Maritime Hockey League also wishes to extend condolences to Daniel’s family.

The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 10th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 11th in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Stellarton with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson presiding. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Donations may be made in memory of Daniel to Muscular Dystrophy Canada or The Children’s Wish Foundation.
