Ramblers Sign Fabian Joseph as Associate Coach

Amherst – The Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Jr A Ramblers are pleased to announce Fabian Joseph will be the new associate coach on Head Coach Ryan Salvis’ bench this season.

Joseph, a 55 year-old native of Sydney, NS, was associate coach for the Moncton Wildcats when they won the QMJHL Championship in 2009-10. All together Fabian spent seven years with the Cats. After coaching in Moncton he became head coach with the Woodstock Slammers for two seasons. One of those seasons his team lost in the Fred Page Cup final. Before arriving in Moncton, Fabian served as head coach for the Dalhousie Tigers for seven years wining bronze at the CIS Nationals.

“It is a great opportunity to get back in the hockey landscape; especially with such a storied franchise as the Amherst Ramblers.’ Joseph said. “I look forward to working with Jeff, Ryan, Jeff, Joel, the training staff, and the Rambler organization in their quest for a championship. I also welcome the opportunity to help the players reach their potential as players, students and respectful citizens in the community. There are not many traditional arenas in the country. The Amherst Stadium and the support of the community will be a special place to coach…I can’t wait for the season to start!’ he added.

Newly appointed Head Coach Ryan Salvis was happy to be adding a coach to his staff with great experience.

“Fabian brings a great amount of coaching experience and I’m looking forward to working with him. He’s very passionate and knowledgeable when it comes to hockey and our players will benefit from having him join our staff. He’s got a great hockey background as a player and coach but more importantly he’s a great person and leader.” said Coach Salvis.

Joseph’s playing career included four seasons with the Canadian National team, winning Silver at the 1994 Winter Olympic while acting as captain. He also played ten years pro hockey in the IHL, AHL and in Europe.

Last season’s assistants, Jeff Walsh, and Goalie & Video Coach, Joel Gauthier will both be returning to round out the bench staff.
