Brian will assume the role of Hockey Director, to include the Head Coaching role with the Fredericton Junior A Red Wings of the Maritime Junior Hockey League. Brian will commence his duties on July 1st , 2019.

Brian brings an extensive background to the company; that includes two years in the CHL with the St. Jean Lynx of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, four seasons with the Acadia Axeman in the AUS and ten seasons in professional hockey in Europe. During his time in professional hockey, Brian was fortunate to be part of two Spengler Cup Championships with Team Canada and won two National Titles for Slovakia and Denmark. Global Center Ice feel very fortunate to bring a coach on board with this strong background.

In 2015, Brian returned to school, attending Saint Francis Xavier University, completing his Bachelor of Education, adding to his Bachelor of Physical Education achieved in 1998 at Acadia. During his time with St. F. X, Brian served as the Assistant Coach of the Men’s Hockey Team, winning back to back AUS titles, and a silver medal at the CIS National Championships in 2015. Brian’s first duty as head coach will be getting familiar with the Red Wings Organization and the existing Roster, while preparing for the MHL Draft taking place in Edmundston, NB, on June 15th . Coach Casey describes his coaching style as “I am a very passionate coach who communicates extremely well with his players”.  He also states “My goal is to ensure we have a team that competes extremely hard during practice and games. We want to earn an identity in our work ethic…Success in regular season and playoffs will follow if this attitude is in place”.

Roger Shannon the teams President and Governor, says, “As a hockey coach, you need to earn the players trust, and steal their hockey hearts, when you do that you will be successful, the fine line between winning and losing in sport is thin, and until you get that, your teams will struggle. After getting to know Brian, through hockey and friends, I felt he was the perfect person for this role with our company and our team. We are very pleased to be able to bring on board someone of this magnitude, the entire staff is looking forward to working with Brian.”

Brent Grant, GM of the Fredericton Junior Red Wings states, “For me, starting out in the MHL, to have a person like Brian to work with while we pursue our goals on and off the ice, is perfect timing, his experience in the game, can mean nothing but good things as we work toward putting a great product on the ice for our fans.”
