Jakovljevic commits to Ontario Tech University

The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks have announced that Amherst Ramblers defenseman Marko Jakovljevic has committed to the team for the 2021-22 season.

The 20-year-old from Brantford, Ontario was acquired by the Ramblers from the OJHL’s Trenton Golden Hawks on January 3rd, 2020. In the twelve games since, Jakovljevic has three goals and nine assists. Before coming to the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL), Jakovljevic spent three seasons with the OHL’s Sarnia Sting.

“I’m very excited to start the next chapter of my hockey and academic career,” said Jakovljevic in a release from Ontario Tech. “I’m looking forward to joining what is already a great hockey program and helping build something special in the coming years. I want to thank my family and coaches who have supported me on this journey and the Ridgebacks team for welcoming me to the fold.”

“Marko has been a force since coming to Amherst,” said Ramblers GM Jeff Leblanc. “He’s a natural leader on and off the ice. Ontario Tech is getting a very good player and person.”

The MHL congratulates Jakovljevic on his hockey career and post-secondary commitment.
