Truro, N.S. (April 24, 2025) – The Maritime Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce defenseman Drew Maddigan of the Pictou County Weeks Crushers is the inaugural winner of the United General Insurance Corporation (UGIC) Lighthouse Award. It was presented by MHL Commissioner Matt Moore and UGIC CEO Matthew Wight.
The award is presented to the playoff player who exemplifies excellence in Athletics, Academics, and Community Service. Maddigan, who has committed to St. Francis Xavier University for next season, finished the playoffs with two goals and twelve assists for fourteen points in thirteen games to lead all defensemen. This award carries a $1,500 bursary from UGIC, the MHL’s Auto Insurer of Choice.
The MHL and UGIC congratulate Maddigan on his achievements on and off the ice and wish him well at St. FX next season.
