The Amherst Ramblers are proud to announce that defenceman Owen Aura has committed to continue his academic and hockey career with the Waterloo Warriors men’s ice hockey at the University of Waterloo.

Aura, a native of Kamloops, British Columbia, joined the Ramblers ahead of the 2023–24 season after previously playing with the Kamloops Storm of the KIJHL, where he recorded 24 points in 40 games as a defenceman. Since arriving in Amherst, Aura has developed into a key presence on the Ramblers’ blue line, logging important minutes in all situations and contributing offensively while maintaining a steady defensive game. His leadership and consistency were further recognized when he was named an assistant captain for the 2025–26 Maritime Junior A Hockey League season.

Throughout his time with the Ramblers, Aura has been known for his poise with the puck, strong two-way play, and leadership in the locker room. Whether anchoring the defence, contributing on special teams, or mentoring younger players, he has been a dependable presence for the organization both on and off the ice. His commitment to Waterloo represents the next step in a junior career defined by steady development and dedication to the team.

At Waterloo, Aura will join the Warriors’ men’s hockey program, which competes in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference of U SPORTS. The program has a long history in Canadian university hockey, highlighted by a national championship in 1974 and multiple conference titles. The Warriors play their home games at CIF Arena and continue to compete against some of the top university programs in the country.

The Amherst Ramblers organization congratulates Owen on this accomplishment and wishes him continued success as he pursues both his education and hockey career with the Waterloo Warriors.
