Western Capitals’ Kelly-Murphy commits to UPEI

The Summerside Western Capitals have announced that defenseman Logan Kelly-Murphy has committed to the UPEI Panthers for the 2022-23 season.

The 21-year-old from China Point, P.E.I. was drafted in the 2nd Round, 15th overall, by the Campbellton Tigers in the 2018 MHL Entry Draft. Kelly-Murphy played 45 games during his rookie season of 2018-19 with the Tigers, registering eight assists. He added two assists in fifteen playoff games as Campbellton advanced to the Canadian Tire Cup Final, where they fell to Yarmouth.

Kelly-Murphy spent the next two seasons with the QMJHL’s Cape Breton Eagles, tallying one goal and twelve assists in 86 games. Summerside acquired him prior to the 2021-22 season via trade.

Once with the Western Capitals, Kelly-Murphy had one goal and seventeen assists in 35 regular season games, adding one goal and six assists in fourteen games during the Canadian Tire Cup as Summerside captured the league title in five games over Truro.
