The Grand Falls are happy to announce that Jeff Cowan will become the team’s new head coach for the upcoming 2026-2027 MHL season.
Cowan was the Rapids assistant coach for the past four seasons, helping the team to its first playoff appearance last spring since the team’s arrival in Grand Falls.
He replaces Greg Leland behind the bench, thus becoming the Rapids’ fifth head coach since their inaugural 2018-2019 campaign.
The Ontario native played a total of 434 games in the National Hockey League with Calgary, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Vancouver.
In 2019, he was named the interim head coach of the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL.

Les Rapides de Grand-Sault sont heureux d’annoncer la nomination de Jeff Cowan au poste d’entraîneur-chef en vue de la saison 2026-2027 de la Ligue de hockey des Maritimes (LHM).
Cowan occupait le rôle d’entraîneur adjoint des Rapides depuis les quatre dernières saisons. Il a notamment contribué à mener l’équipe à sa première participation aux séries éliminatoires depuis son arrivée à Grand-Sault, au printemps dernier.
Il succède ainsi à Greg Leland derrière le banc et devient ainsi le cinquième entraîneur-chef de l’histoire de la concession depuis sa saison inaugurale en 2018-2019.
Originaire de l’Ontario, Cowan a disputé un total de 434 matchs dans la Ligue nationale de hockey (LNH) avec les Flames de Calgary, les Thrashers d’Atlanta, les Kings de Los Angeles et les Canucks de Vancouver.
En 2019, il a également été nommé entraîneur-chef par intérim des Sea Dogs de Saint John dans la Ligue de hockey junior Maritimes Québec (LHJMQ).
